Myanmar e-Visa Online - Myanmar Tourist E-Visa

 The Myanmar electronic visa or e-visa is an official travel permit/authorization issued by the government of Myanmar to eligible nationalities. It is offered for only touristic and business activities, and nationals of around 100 countries are now entitled to apply for a Myanmar visa. This visa is applied for and received online. If you want to visit Myanmar for a brief period of no more than 30 days, you can apply for the electronic visa and obtain visa approval after authentication within five working days.


Myanmar Resumes Online Tourist Visas for Foreign Nationals:

In March 2022, Myanmar resumed accepting the tourist e-visas after a hiatus of over two years when the country suspended new online visa applications due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The country's Ministry of Immigration and Population released the following statement when resuming online visas:


"Our online e-visa service will resume with effect from May 15, 2022, for tourist visa applications."


The country also resumed international commercial flight operations in March 2022, and on 17 April, it reopened the borders to foreign travelers. The country started accepting new tourist e-visa applications in May 2022.


It is worth noting that Myanmar launched its electronic visa application system in September 2014. Now, eligible nationals can apply for a tourist visa online without visiting an embassy or consulate.


Myanmar Tourist e-Visa- What is it?

Travelers wishing to visit the Southeast Asian country Myanmar for business or leisure should consider applying for an e-visa. This process is completed entirely online, and citizens of over 100 countries can apply for the visa. The visitors are allowed to stay in the country for 28 days. Please note that the Myanmar tourist e-visa is a single-entry travel authorization.


In order to apply for the visa, the candidate has to visit this Myanmar visa application form, fill out the visa application form, submit the required documents, and pay the visa processing fees. The next step is waiting for visa approval, and if authorized, the immigration authorities would send the visa in PDF format directly to the applicant's email inbox.


Myanmar Tourist Visa Details:

Myanmar tourist e-visa is valid for 90 days starting from the date of issuance, while the visitor cannot stay in the country for more than 28 days. The stay duration is calculated from the date the traveler arrives in Myanmar. In case the visa validity has expired, the traveler will be denied entry into the country.

Tourist e-visa is a single-entry permit, so, to re-enter Myanmar, you must apply for a new visa every time.

The processing time is up to 2 working days for normal Tourist Visa and 8 hours for Myanmar Tourist Express Visa Service. In all cases, processing time starts when the application form is submitted with successful payment.

You will receive an email after successful payment of your visa service. e-Visa fees is non refundable.

Applicants can use any international credit or debit card to process visa fee payment, such as MasterCard, Visa, or JCB credit cards.

When visiting Myanmar through a cruise ship, please consult your travel agent regarding the pre-arranged Visa on Arrival. That's because e-visa cannot be used to enter Myanmar through the seaport.

Applicants having kids under 7-years of age need to mention the name of the child and their date of birth in the Minor section of the application form.

If you do not have a valid passport, you cannot apply for an Myanmar e-visa. You cannot use another travel document, such as a residence permit or national ID, to apply for the visa.

Filling out Tourist e-Visa Application Form:

When you access the visa application form, you will have to select the visa type (tourism or business), country or nationality, and travel-related details. The applicant has to fill out the form according to the passport's biography page. This means the information provided in the form should match the data available on the passport.


The applicant will enter personal details:


Including full name

Parents' names,

contact number,

gender, date of birth,

place of birth,

marital status,

occupation,

and residential and email address.

The next part of the application form will ask for passport and travel-related dat

issue and expiry date,

and the intended travel date.

The last step is to process the Myanmar visa fees and upload the required documents in digital format.


After you have processed the payment and submitted the visa application, an email will be sent to your email address acknowledging that your payment has been successful and visa processing has commenced.


The visa processing can take from 1 to 6 days, depending on the type of visa- standard or urgent.

According to the Myanmar government, a traveler must follow some rules and requirements when uploading passport-sized photographs. Here is a brief overview of Myanmar passport size photo rules:

The background should be plain white.

The applicant's full front face should be visible from the forehead to the neck area in the photograph.

The photo size should be 4.6 cm X 3.8 cm.

The photo should not be more than three months old and must show the applicant's current appearance.

Headgear is acceptable for religious purposes.
