Explore Myanmar’s Water World


Unlike many other countries in Asia, Myanmar has recently opened up about its tourism. This less explored country is rich in history, culture and tradition. As it is new to tourism, it could be a little challenging. Hence, we have come with a guide to help you explore this beautiful country of Pagodas, landscape and its amazing water world.

In this article, we have listed out some of the must visit lakes in Myanmar:

1.      Inle Lake
Amongst others, Inle Lake is one of the treats to the visitors. It is also the most famous lake situated at Nyaung Shwe Township of Shan state. The width of the surface is 44.9 square miles. This lake contains fish and snail species that are found nowhere else in the world. Also, UNESCO has recognized this lake as Man and the biosphere reserve.

2.      Inya Lake
This lake was brought into existence by the Britishers in order to supply water Yangon and named as Victoria. However, the locals still calls it Koke Kai or Inya Lake. And it is the hotspot for them to relax to avoid the hot weather of Yangon.

3.      Inn Daw Gyi Lake
This lake is situated at Moe Nyin city in Kachin State. It is considered to be one of the largest lakes in Myanmar. UNESCO also has recognized it as Ramsar site and biosphere reserves.

4.      Taung The Man Inn
Located in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Division, the Taung the Man Inn is a famous tourist attraction with the world famous U Bein Bridge. Watching the sunset and taking boat trips are an activity that traveler often does.

5.      Rhi Lake
Situated near Myanmar – India border, Rhi Lake is 64 miles away from Pha Lan city of Chin State. This lake is in a heart shape style and is surrounded by mountains with the height of 2966 feet of sea level above. The lake is above one mile in length and half a mile in width.
